About Us

FemenTABLE was created in 2024 to teach people who are interested in learning how to improve the gut microbiome, reduce inflammation, how to be sustainable and how to reduce waste, all of these, bringing back the old traditions that were overlooked through generations due to the excess of fast food consumption.

FermenTABLE also wants to introduce delicious flavours and food through fermenting – welcoming beginners and everyone who wants to learn how the gut-brain barrier is a key factor in a healthy immune system or how to reduce cortisol levels (hormone responsible for brain fog, anxiety, depression, etc).

We offer workshops across Cambridgeshire for individuals, families, corporate team-building events, group events, hen parties and 1-2-1 sessions.

We can also come to your venue if you prefer.

What is fermentation?

Fermentation is one of the oldest food preservation techniques known to humanity, playing a crucial role in culinary traditions across the globe. The presence of fermentation in nearly every cuisine underscores its essential role in food culture and human history. It continues to evolve with food trends. With growing interest in gut health and probiotic and prebiotic-rich diets, fermented foods are gaining popularity worldwide. The community of food scientists, chefs, health-conscious consumers eat more fermented food every day. Fermented foods are a global culinary staple.

Fermentation is not just about preserving food, it also enhances flavours, improves digestibility, and increases nutritional value. It also allows beneficial bacteria and yeasts to break down, creating unique textures and flavours as well as promoting gut health. It is becoming a global trend.

Historically, food fermentation was performed as a method of preservation. In recent years, fermented foods have undergone a surge in popularity, mainly due to their health benefits. Fermentation is a trend that’s here to stay.

Catalina has been fermenting food for more than 20 years. She has lived in four countries and has discovered flavours around the world. She has a passion for cooking and shares new flavours with friends and family. She supports slow cooking rather than fast food and processed food. She believes in the benefits that a healthy diet does to support the immune system, and she wants to create a strong community in Cambridgeshire where people understand sustainability, zero waste and good gut health through fermenting food.
